Obituary for Margaret Ahearn Ziegler

Margaret Ahearn Ziegler, 79, of Coatesville died Friday, February 9, 2018 at Chester County Hospital.

Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Eugene O. and Gertrude Kennedy Ahearn and the wife of the late Lewis R. Ziegler with whom she shared 30 years of marriage before his death in May 2008.

Maggie was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary, Church.

Maggie was a graduate of St. Agnes High School, West Chester, where she played basketball and baseball.

She retired from G.O. Carlson after over 46 years of service. Maggie was proud to be the first and only female supervisor.

Maggie was a firefighter with Washington Fire Co. No. 1, where she met her husband, Lewis. She was also very active with the South Coatesville Borough and Chester County Blind Association. She was an avid Eagles Fan.

Maggie’s pride and joy were her grandchildren.


Maggie is survived by her son, Louis O. Ziegler and his wife, Michelle and their children, Jada, Leah, Lewis, and Connor; two sisters, Estelle DiObilda and Rosemary Franciscus both of Coatesville.

She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Hiddleson.

Maggie’s funeral mass will be held Monday, February 19, 2018 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Rosary 80 S. 17th Avenue, Coatesville where family and friends may call from 9 – 10:15am.

Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Coatesville.

Memorials in Maggie’s honor may be made to Chester County Branch PA Assoc. For The Blind Inc. 71 South First Avenue, Coatesville, PA 19320.
